A backflow assembly is an assembled unit designed to prevent backflow from entering the water system. It includes shutoff valves and test cocks.

Where are backflow assemblies located?

Backflow assemblies can be installed on irrigation systems, indoor and outdoor sprinkler systems, water filters, boilers, fountains, ponds and other plumbing systems.

Who is qualified to test backflow assemblies?

The city requires that testing be done by a Certified Backflow Assembly Tester whose qualifications have been verified by the city’s agent, BSI.

What is a Certified Backflow Assembly Tester?

A Certified Backflow Assembly Tester is an individual who has received formal training in backflow testing, has been certified by the BC Water and Waste Association (BCWWA) and renews their certification annually.
